What have you gained from your learning experience in this program thus far?
There is so much that I have gained through this learning experience, but the one thing that is at the top of my list is that I found myself here. Up until now, I felt stuck in my job, and lost in the next steps of my life. I thought that I wasn’t smart enough, or capable to complete my Masters Degree. It took me nearly 5 years to get here, and all that I can say is, Thank God, I went for it. This experience has changed my life for the better, and has built confidence in me that helps me understand my potential to grow, and get to where I want to be in my career, and in my life long learning journey. I’m so happy that I invested in myself.
How will you incorporate elements of the COVA model into your ePortfolio?
The COVA model stands for choice, ownership, voice, and authentic learning. As a learner, I will use my ePortfolio to include all of the things that I choose to display, as a way to reflect on what I accomplished throughout the program, and to show ownership of my work in different ways. I will create videos, and writings or blogs, and use my voice to express myself. This is real, authentic learning and knowledge that I have acquired through my journey. I will include variations of what I have learned through the ADL Masters Program.
What factors would contribute to ePortfolio persistence beyond your program of study?
The ePortfolio was fun to create, as I went through my first two classes of the ADL Masters Program with Lamar. I look forward to continuing to add all the things that I am learning in this program to my website, or ePortfolio, from the rest of my classes that I will be taking soon. But, I plan to continue to add to it after I complete my Masters Degree by passing on what I am learning in the program, and sharing it with others. Especially, if students, parents, and teachers want to know more about me, and what I did in the program. I’ll use it as a talking tool if I want to share my innovation plan, or to let others know how I acquired a growth mindset. There is a lot to offer through the knowledge gained here that I can possibly help others through their learning journey. I’ll even use it to find a future job as an Instructional Designer, since the possibilities are endless.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned thus far in the program?
The most valuable lesson that I have learned thus far in the program is to never give up on myself. What I mean by this is that before this program, if I didn’t understand something, I would take it really hard, maybe even stop, and not finish, but now I will give myself room to grow, learn, and make it better. I will prioritize my learning, and continue to expand, improve, and move from where I am at. My motto is, I know better, so I can do better! This program has brought a lot of happiness to my learning adventures.
