Flex Blended Model

Media Project: Video discussion

This long video discussion includes information about using Schoology, project based learning, and guided instruction in a flex blended environment. Using this approach creates powerful learning, keeps students interested, and allows engagement in their personal learning journey. These strategies are effective for both the student and teacher which in turn is a win-win for all involved. This approach empowers learners to take charge of their own learning in a meaningful and purposeful way using a flex blended model with self paced learning, and mastery based assessments, which is more context to add to my research that supports this video presentation. Essentially, students need to be equipped with skills that exceed beyond the classroom.

In order to support my Innovation Plan of integrating a blended learning environment using a flex model approach, I wrote a final publication where I created a project based lesson that engages students with a real world situation that connects to academic concepts, and encourages learners to work in collaborative team settings. I followed my Publication Outline that explains how Schoology, a learning management system, is used along with other digital tools to complete these lessons, share ideas, and track student progress. Also, guided instruction is available to support students as they need it, and to help them stay on track as they are learning at their own pace.

By combining technology, real world situations, and small group instruction, this plan helps students develop critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Students will be better prepared for their future academic and career success and foster learning habits that they will continue to use in their lifetime.
