Final Wrap-Up: Contribution to My Learning and the Learning Community

My Key Contributions – For both of the following courses:

  • 5303 – Applying Educational Technology: Portfolio
  • 5313 – Creating Significant Learning Environments

Reflection on what is working – I successfully created my ePortfolio for both courses, after transitioning from using Google Sites to WordPress. Even though I had many technical challenges at the beginning, I was able to overcome them, through hard work, and persistence. I am now able to showcase my work through my ePortfolio, and reflect on my learning journey. I have created this space to share my growth, and understanding, and highlight my thoughts and key ideas through my assignments.

Not only did I learn how to use WordPress, which is a huge accomplishment, because it definitely was not easy, and it was extra time consuming, I also learned how to use other digital tools. For instance, I joined a collaborative discussion group that used Padlet for our discussions throughout the course, 5303 – Applying Educational Technology: Portfolio. These digital tools, or software applications, made my learning interactive, and more engaging.

In 5313 – Creating Significant Learning Environments, I have learned how important it is to create a significant learning environment that uses COVA to support my innovation plan of implementing a blended learning environment with a flex model approach. I’ve also learned how to create strategies for project based learning and guided instruction that supports student centered learning and engagement using the new culture of learning framework.

Reflection on what I can do better – For 5303, even though I included reflections of my work, I could improve on digging deeper into the technology tools that I have used and how it can impact my teaching, as well as how it has impacted my learning in a technical way. I also feel like I could organize myself better, and learn to update my ePortfolio consistently, as well as writing blogs more regularly. These methods could help me track my overall growth better.

For 5313, I could also learn to fully align my goals, assessments, and activities, and not focus on one area more than the other, so that it can match my overall goal and instruction.

How did I contribute to, help build, and provide feedback to my core collaboration group – My core collaboration group consisted of 3 other classmates. They are: Katelyn Oquin, Cristy Silkin, and Veronica Mata. I contributed to my group by sharing ideas, and participating in the discussions each week. I was actively involved, and offered support on a regular basis. I gave my perspective on things, and frequently provided positive feedback, or suggestions. I did my best to help everyone feel heard, and valued. I really enjoyed this collaborative group, and in turn, it helped me grow as a learner.

Revised all assignments and reflected on revisions in this contribution to a learning activity – I revised my assignments based on feedback, and learned how to make certain things better, such as my citations page that includes all of the references that I used throughout my ePortfolio. I  also stopped many times and took a closer look at my assignments. I read my work, then re-read it again to make changes to improve, make it more effective, and reflect what I have learned.

Completed ALL of the course readings, videos, and supporting resources – I used all the resources, such as course readings, videos, and extra material to understand what I was learning, and better prepare for my assignments.

Met the various course activity deadlines indicated in the calendar –I feel that I met all of my course activity deadlines, which helped me stay on track and complete my work in a timely manner.

Took leadership responsibility in your base group and the course – I took on a leadership role by helping with organization, and taking on tasks like encouraging teammates to complete our goals, and showed encouragement to others. I also felt that I did a lot of sharing on our weekly zoom meetings to give my ideas and input with others in the program.

Contribute to your learning and the learning of your colleagues by participating in ALL activities-  Not only did it help my learning, but the learning of others’ when I shared my ideas, asked questions, and worked with others to make our group stronger. This was my way to actively help, or contribute to the forums that we all participated in together.

You posted in a timely fashion so others can respond to your posting – I made sure to post in a timely manner so that others could respond. I also made a point to respond to others in my learning community, so that we can collaborate and share ideas. I always tried to keep the conversation going and show my engagement in the process.

Your postings reflect breadth and depth of thinking with research to support your thinking and are cited using APA – I learned how important it is to show my citations in the correct format, and the significance of including it in my research. I did my best to share my thoughts, and understanding.

Overall, I have learned so much as a student, and as an educator. All classes have played a significant role in my learning process. I feel that I can take feedback in a different, more positive way, and turn it around to become feedforward, so that I can continue to self improve, and reflect on my teaching practices, as well as lining it up with my learning journey.

Self Assessment Score: 98/100
